Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Bicycle Theft

11-27-04 - A resident of Clason House reported her red, gray and black Giant mountain bike was taken from the bike rack located at Clason House. The locked bicycle is valued at $500.00 and was not registered with Security and Campus Safety. The Lewiston Police were advised of the theft.

11-29-04 - A student reported his black Specialized Rockhopper mountain bike was taken from the outside bike rack of Stillman House. The value of the bike is $1100.00. The Lewiston Police were advised of the theft.

11-29-04 - A resident of Wentworth Adams Hall reported her dark green Raleigh M-30 mountain bike was stolen from the Wentworth Adams Hall bike rack. The value of the mountain bike is $300.00.

11-30-04 - A resident of Wentworth Adams Hall reported his KHS mountain bike was taken from the outside bike rack. The value of the mountain bike is $250.00.


Criminal Mischief

12-04-04 - The glass door that houses the fire extinguisher on the third floor of Page Hall was discovered broken. The replacement cost is unknown.


Criminal Trespass

11-28-04 - While locking the Chapel, Officers found a young male lying on one of the pews. The individual stated that he was thrown out of his house and was sleeping in the Chapel. The individual was escorted off campus.


Neighborhood Complaint

12-04-04 - Lewiston Police and Fire Departments responded to 70 Elm Street due to a bon fire in the driveway. Several pieces of furniture were on fire in the driveway. The Lewiston Fire Department put the fire out.
