Crime Statistics

Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Thefts

11-21-03 - A student reported that her dorm keys had been taken from a cubicle at the Ladd Library. Physical Plant was advised of the incident.


Bicycle Theft

11-17-03 - A student reported that his 21 speed GT, Karacum, mountain bike was stolen from the outside bike rack of Frye House. The bicycle is valued at $200.00. The Lewiston Police Department was advised of the theft.


Narcotics Laws

11-15-03 - A resident of Smith Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws.

11-15-03 - Two residents of Page Hall were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws.

11-17-03 - Two residents of Frye House were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws.

11-21-03 - Two residents of Smith Hall were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws.


Liquor Laws/Policy

11-15-03 - Two residents of Frye House were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws.

11-20-03 - One resident of Hacker House was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws and three residents of Hacker House were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the Alcohol Policy.

11-27-03 - One resident of Wentworth Adams was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws.


Criminal Trespass

11-19-03 - An individual was issued a criminal trespass warning after he was observed sleeping inside the Ladd Library. The same individual was found sleeping in the bathroom of the Library after the facility was closed on 11-18-03.


Neighborhood Complaints

11-16-03 - At 1:02 a.m. the Lewiston Police Department spoke to the residents of 410 Main Street about a complaint of a loud party they were having. The residents were told to stop the party and have all the quests leave the apartment.
