Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Theft

01-07-05 - A student reported that her black pea coat and gray scarf were taken from the Chase Hall coatroom. The jacket is valued at $75.00 and the scarf is valued at $20.00.

01-09-05 - A student reported that her front license plate was taken from her motor vehicle while it was parked in the Village Parking Lot.


Narcotics Violation

01-13-05 - A resident of Parker Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws.


Liquor Laws Violation

01-14-05 - A resident of Smith Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Liquor Laws.


Criminal Mischief

01-09-05 - A resident of Rand Hall reported that he found his door to his room damaged from being "kicked in".

01-15-05 - Officers found a small hole in the ground floor hallway of Smith Middle. Also, a fire extinguisher was tampered with and was missing from the second floor landing.

01-15-05 - Officers found a fist sized hole in the second floor hallway of Parker Hall. The cost to repair the hole is estimated at $170.62.

01-15-05 - A chemical fire extinguisher was discharged in the first floor lounge of Rand Hall. The cost of the damage and fines is estimated at $193.73.

01-15-05 - A fire extinguisher in the third floor hallway of Page Hall was tampered with and was replaced by Officers. The cost of the damage and fines is estimated at $193.73.


Suspicious Condition

01-11-05 - An employee from Physical Plant reported observing a motor vehicle being driven on Wood Street in a suspicious manner. Officers observed the vehicle and followed the vehicle into Auburn. The information of the vehicle was given to the Lewiston Police Department.


Neighborhood Complaint

01-14-05 - Officers from the Lewiston Police responded to 77 Nichols Street after receiving a complaint of a loud party. The party was broken up and the residents were issued a disorderly conduct warning. The incident took place at 2:07 a.m.
