Crime Statistics

Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

The following statistics reflect criminal activity that was reported between January 1, 2006 and January 14, 2006.

Theft

1-07-06 - A student reported that his wallet containing between $300.00 and $400.00 was taken from an unlocked locker in one of the locker rooms located in the Merrill Gym. The Lewiston Police Department was advised of the theft.

1-12-06 - A student reported that her boots were taken from a storage unit located on the 2nd floor of Merrill Gym. The information was passed on to the Lewiston Police Department.


Narcotics Law

1-10-06 - Four students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Narcotics Laws. The incident took place inside Page Hall.


Liquor Laws Violation

1-06-06 - Two students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws. The incident took place on the Merrill Gym walkway.

1-13-06 - A student was arrested by the Lewiston Police Department for Operating a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence of Alcohol. The incident took place in a parking lot on campus.

1-13-06 - A student was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws. The incident took place inside Parker Hall.


Criminal Mischief of Motor Vehicle

1-06-06 - A student reported that she had found her passenger side rear tire had gone flat. The vehicle was parked in the Smith Parking Lot.

1-11-06 - a resident of Wentworth Adams reported that he found the rear window to his vehicle had been shattered. The vehicle was parked in the Smith Parking Lot.


Neighborhood Complaint

1-07-06 - Security and Campus Safety went to 75 Elm Street to assist the Lewiston Police to disperse a loud party that was taking place in the second floor apartment. A resident of the apartment received a disorderly conduct warning. The incident took place at 12:53 a.m.

1-13-06 - At 4:38 p.m., Officers from the Lewiston Police Department responded to 77 Nichols Street for a neighborhood complaint. The Officers dispersed a party that was taking place at the apartment.
