Emergency Assistance While Abroad
If traveling abroad on Bates College business, you and traveling family members are covered by an Emergency Assistance Policy.
Study Abroad by Bates Students
Off-Campus study at Bates is managed through the Off-Campus
Study Office, according to policies set by the faculty, administration,
and the Off-Campus Study Committee. Approximately 60% of
Bates students study off-campus once or more during their
times at Bates. The goal of the Off-Campus Study Office
and Committee is for these experiences to be integral to, and
supportive of, the student's overall academic progam at Bates.
Information on all these options and the related College
policies and procedures are available in the Off-Campus Study
Office and in the online section for Bates
students.
Forms for approving Major, Minor, and General Education Concentration (GEC) credit
If approved by the department, students can apply study abroad courses toward their major or minor. Some departments record approval of these courses on their own forms. Alternatively, the forms below can be used to record this information. The forms should be retained by the department or program chair for use when certifying completion of the major or minor prior to graduation.
If allowed by the GEC, students can apply one or two non-Bates courses toward their GEC. Concentration Coordinators can use the "Comparable Course Approval Form" below to record their approval. Completed forms should be sent to the Registrar's Office.
