The Bates College Musuem of Art presents

THE THOUSAND WORDS PROJECT

Students' Page

The Thousand Words Project (TWP) gets its name from the old adage “A picture is worth a thousand words.” But relax! Nobody expects you to write a thousand words.

By taking part in TWP, you will write, but writing exercises will focus on building observation skills, for the most part. All you have to do is look at pictures and respond to questions. True, we will be asking you to write, but through our exercises, we are confident that you will find writing to be easier and more enjoyable than you ever imagined. So, sharpen your pencils and grab some paper, or even use your computer and get ready to explore how you can learn about making and looking at pictures while simultaneously learning about how to write better and more easily!
