The Museum of Art is grateful to LA-Arts in Lewiston, Maine, and particularly to their Education Coordinator, Jen Ryan. LA-Arts has been a collaborator for the past several years, allowing The Thousand Word Project to reach Auburn Middle School students under the umbrella of their Visual Literacy program. TWP was conceived and continues to be overseen by Anthony Shostak, Curator of Education for the Museum of Art at Bates College. Trained at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Mr. Shostak has more than a decade of experience in offering educational and outreach services to young people. As a Lewiston native, he possesses a keen understanding of the cultural needs of local schools.
