Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Hartnett now lives and works in New York, NY. She received her B.F.A. from Rhode Island School of Design and also studied at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, Maine. She has appeared in numerous group exhibitions, most recently in the Bowdoin College Museum of Art show, “The Maine Landscape: Works on Paper." She was also recently featured in a solo exhibition in the Danese Gallery in New York.

Public collections that include her works include Bates, Bowdoin College Museum of Art, Colby College Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard.
