Born in Lisbon Falls in 1850, Delbert Dana Coombs drew inspiration from Maine throughout his long life. Coombs did a number of different landscape works, often including cattle like the one found in Mt. David.

Coombs' work can also be found at the Maine State Capitol and Yale University.
