Joel Babb (b. 1947)
Joel Babb graduated from Princeton University in 1969 with a degree in Art History, studying with George Segal and George Ortman before completing an MFA at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston/Tufts University. He has shown widely in New England and New York, including shows at Vose Galleries and Gallery NAGA in Boston, Sherry French Gallery, Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Portland Museum of Art, Ogunquit Museum of American Art, and the Bates College Museum of Art.
Babb's style has greatly evolved over the years. Moving away from his early abstract works, Babb became a contemporary realist. Perhaps best known for his cityscapes, Babb also draws inspiration from the woods near his Sumner, Maine residence.
