Abominable Snowman (n. Ah-BOMB-in-a-bull SNOW-man) While Westerners frequently refer to the gorilla-like beasts that inhabit the Himalayas as "the Abominable Snowman," the moniker is somewhat of a misnomer. These creatures are not a single "snowman," nor are they particularly abominable. They are instead reasonably quiet animals which roam the mountains, leaving cryptic footprints as evidence of their existence.

The creature, more appropriately called "Yeti" (derived from the Sherpa description of the animal,) has been known for hundreds of years by Sherpas of Nepal. They appear to be humanoid creatures covered in hair and walking on two feet. Contrary to popular myth, the creature is not white but rather covered in black, shiny hair. In recent years, a number of mountaineers and other adventureres have sighted the Yeti creature (sometimes more than one) and have generally described all of these characteristics.

It is important to note that there may in fact be many different types of Yeti creatures all together. Some are more bear-like than ape-like. Some are only bipedal on occasion. To date, however, no type of Yeti has been captured, so the existence of any type remains uncertain.
