Vallance’s
works and ideas reflect a particular methodical research exemplifying
chronosymmetric ideals. Analyzing
the eyes in a painting of the Virgin of Guadalupe, he utilizes
contemporary technology as well as visual imagination. Within
Guadalupe’s eyes, Vallance was able to discover dozens of
images of popular figures throughout history, including Abraham
Lincoln, Elvis, Bob Dylan and the carcass of Blinky. The
most prominent figure in this series is 75 images reflecting Big
Foot and Yeti. Vallance was able to connect these “monkey-like"
figures with the Virgin
by citing that the popular term for Devil in Mexico is chango,
and that in the 19th century Saint John Bosco
had visions of demons and the Devil where the figures assumed a “monkey-like
beast” figure.
