OPTIONAL 3rd GAME: Teams interested in playing a 3rd game each week should register (check) to play on Friday afternoons (4:15-7:15 pm) or Sunday afternoons (1-7 pm).
Game Schedule. Both leagues have been filled!
NOTE: Varsity baseball and softball players are NOT allowed to play on a team until their season has concluded. Only 2 members of the varsity team may be on a team, with only one allowed to be on the field and at bat during an inning.
RULES.
1. Teams must have a minimum of seven people to play, otherwise, 10 players are on the field.
2. Teams are NOT required to be co-ed but encouraged to include both genders on the team.
3. Register your team for one league: National League plays Mondays/Wednesdays; American League plays Tuesdays/Thursdays. The World Series will consist of the top teams in each league playing crossover games.
4. A batter is considered out after four foul balls. There are NO walks. The pitch must have an arc of at least 6 feet and no greater than 12 feet. The pitch may have backspin or forward-spin on the ball. If the pitcher cannot get the ball over the plate properly, he/she should be replaced.
5. Games will be played in most weather, unless it is called by the Sport Coordinator, for lightening or poor field conditions. Attempts to re-schedule will be handled by the Sport Coordinator.
"Lightening Rule." No one will return to the field to play until 30 minutes has passed since the last lightening/thunder has been seen/heard.
6. Games must be only 1 hour long. The last full inning played within the hour will determine the winning team.
7. There are no umpires. Balls and strikes are not called, only outs. ALL controversial plays should be re-played if possible. Captains of both teams will discuss and resolve all disputes.
8. NO Alcohol. As with all IM sports, no alcohol is allowed at the fields (or at the sidelines). Intoxicated students will be removed from participation. NO TOLERANCE RULE: individual or team infraction results in immediate dismissal from league.
9. NO Shows. Any team that forfeits 2 games will be removed from the league and ineligible for the playoffs.
10. Fields: Bardwell Field and Page Field will be used for IM softball. Some games may be played on the baseball or softball field when available - please check location of game each playing date.
11. NO Collisions. Deliberate contact will be an automatic out.
12.
NO Stealing. Runners cannot leave the base until the ball is hit. If baserunner
leaves before ball is hit, automatic out!
ATTENTION CAPTAINS:
Team captains
are responsible for informing team members of all games and assisting IM Coordinators
with the equipment. Bats and balls will be provided, but players are responsible
for their own gloves. NO CLEATS may be worn on fields!
