Chapter 6: Future and Imperfect Tenses of
Sum
- While you learned how to create the future and imperfect forms
of the 1st and 2nd conjugations by adding "bi" or "ba" to the
stems and endings, there is no such method for sum.
- Sum is an irregular verb. It uses a different stem in the
future and imperfect
(er) and
sets of endings characterized by "i" in the future and
"ä"
in the imperfect.
- Your life will be much easier if you just memorize the entire
form of sum for the future and imperfect.
- Like the future tense of the 1st and 2nd conjugations, sum in
the future is translated with "shall" or "will" - whatever is more
comfortable English.
