Chapter 3:
Introduction
- You have already learned that with only one
or two exceptions, the nouns of the 1st Declension are
Feminine. In this chapter, you will learn about the
Masculine Nouns of the 2nd Declension.
- The nouns of the 2nd Declension are formed
the same way as those of the 1st Declension: the root of the noun
+ the endings.
- The endings are different from the 1st
Declension Feminine endings, except for the Dative Plural and the
Ablative Plural. Most Masculine 2nd Declension Nouns have a
Nominative Singular ending in -us, but some end in -er (and one
ends in "ir").
- In this chapter you will also learn
about Adjectives, Apposition and Word Order.
