In addition to their ability to switch hit (the dazzling capacity to astound readers with both their nominal and verbal properties) Latin participles are regularly used in constructions (multi-word grammatical units with their own logic and rules - e.g., the complementary infinitive). In this chapter we will study the use of the two most common uses of participles in construction: the ablative absolute and the passive paraphrastic.
