Latin 101

Formation of Passive

Imperfect Indicative Passive:

  • stem (2nd pp - "re") laudä (laudäre); monë (monëre)
  • plus imperfect tense marker ("bä")
  • plus endings:

Note:

  • 1 sing ending is wacky - you would expect laudäbär; monëbär
  • stem vowel in 3 sing remains long but it is short in the 3 plural
  • The 2 sing has an alternate ending in "re" (laudäbäre; monëbäre).
