LATE EXAM POLICY

  • Most students should complete and submit all portions of their exams by 6 p.m. on exam day (2 p.m. in the case of final exams).
  • Students who have job conflicts or heavy schedules on exam day may request extensions IN ADVANCE.
Such extensions usually allow completion of the exam as late as 12 noon on the day after the exam.
Students who are authorized through the Student Abilities Office for extended time on exams may also submit their exams as late as 12 noon on the day after the exam.
  • Part 1 of the exam (the electronically graded portion) becomes an automatic zero if not submitted by 11:30 p.m. on the day after the exam.
  • Part 2 of the exam (the long-answer, free-format questions) may be subject to a penalty if submitted late:
    • One day after exam day -- no penalty assessed.
    • Two days after exam day -- 10 points deducted.
    • Three days after exam day -- 20 points deducted.
    • Four or more days after exam day -- automatic zero.
  • Under extenuating circumstances (such as hospitalization), exceptions to the above may be made on a case-by-case basis.
