Interim Grades ("MY GRADE SO FAR") Shortly after the first exam, interim grades for the first 4 to 5 weeks of the course will be calculated as shown below and posted to Blackboard. These interim grades are calculated as follows: |
Score (converted to pct.) | Points to final grade | Fraction so far | Pct. contribution |
Exam #1 | 18 | * 1 = | 18.00 |
Lab attendance | 5 | * 5/14 = | 1.79 |
Lab reports | 10 | * 3/4 = | 7.50 |
Video quizzes | 5 | * 2/6 = | 1.67 |
TOTAL | 28.96 |
For example, lab attendance makes up 5% of your final grade, so lab attendance for the first 5/14 of the course (5 weeks) contributes 1.79% to the total. Adding up the last column, the components listed above make slightly more than 1/4 of your final grade. Thus, your Interim Grade for the first 4-5 weeks is calculated as: 28.96 NOTE: Interim grades, once posted, do not change; they are "status reports" that are not used in calculating final grades. |
