Alumni Outcome Information

Alumni Survey Results
"Voices from the Other Side":  Immediate Plans of Recent Graduates.  The Office of Career Services surveys alumni six months after graduation to determine their immediate job and graduate school plans. Bates alumni seldom settle directly into a "permanent career" immediately after graduation; they tend to explore several jobs to gain experience, and work for several years before returning for graduate studies. Survey results since the Class of 1993 are available online.

Senior Alumni Satisfaction with Undergraduate Education: Responses to recent senior and 5th, 10th, 25th reunion surveys, and all-class alumni survey.

Vocational and Graduate School Activities; Several Years after Graduation: Results of a 1999 survey of the "5th Year" reunion classes of 1993, 1994, and 1995. Nearly 58% of the respondents had earned or were currently pursuing at least one graduate degree. It is common for graduates to enter graduate/professional school several years after graduation from Bates. It is expected that recent and subsequent graduating classes will eventually surpass the over 70% graduate degree attainment rate of prior classes.

Annual Household Income Summary: 10th and 25th Year Reunion Surveys.

Class Notes from Bates Magazine
One of the best sources of post-graduate outcomes is what our alumni choose to tell us about themselves.  (This may be the best way to learn about what some of our most recent graduates are doing.)  In the Class Notes section from Bates Magazine, alumni informally report the latest information about their studies, their careers, their travels, and other accomplishments.

Faculty/Alumni Publications
From time to time, the "Bates Bookshelf" in the Bates Magazine reports on recent books and publications written by faculty and alumni.
