A division of the Internet Public Library, this site links to more than 1,300 critical and biographical web sites; selective and authoritative.

Humbul Humanities Hub.
From Oxford University's Resource Discovery Network, this site contains well-edited links to lots of humanities-related sources, including American Studies and English Studies.

Women Writers Online.
Searchable electronic archive of texts by early modern women writers.

PAL: Perspectives in American Literature, a Research and Reference Guide.
A chronological overview with outlines, study guides, links, bibliographies, and good pages for about 250 American authors.

The Literature & Culture of the American 1950s.
All kinds of textual and visual materials, from the University of Pennsylvania.

Wright American Fiction 1851-1875.
This is a collection of 19th century American fiction, as listed in Lyle Wright's bibliography American Fiction, 1851-1875. There are currently 2,340 texts included (2,040 unedited, 300 fully edited and encoded) by 1,128 authors.

Electronic archive of American poetry before 1920.
