When limiting a search by year of publication, the catalog looks for the last occurrence of a four digit number in the imprint field, and, if found, compares it with the date or dates entered by the user.

For a limit by date equal to 1983 (entered as after 1982 and before 1984), the catalog will find:

• New York : Mcgraw-Hill, 1981-1983.
• New York : Mcgraw-Hill, 1985, c1983.
