Creating Lists of Circulating Feature Films

This page outlines steps to create the list of Circulating Feature Films (formerly done via Innovative's Featured Lists function) using the program written by Jim Hart for Recently Cataloged Material. This procedure is used by the Library Assistant, Catalog Services under the direction of the Systems and Catalog Librarian.

  1. Create the Circulating feature films monthly (bib list):
    • Subject has Feature films or Short films, cat date is not equal to blank, and item location is btsv, btsvd, or btsve
    • Note: this query is saved as RXL 7/14/2010 Feature films
  2. Sort the list by title.
  3. Export these elements from the list.
    • 245|a
    • 538
    • 001
  4. Name it: videosDVDsCircFeatures.out
  5. Export the list to your abacus account following instruction number 3.
  6. Move the list to the Library website following instruction number 4.
  7. In the .out files, edit the labels. Do not remove tabs between labels.
    • Change 245|a to Title.
    • Change 538 to Format.
    • Leave 001. Do not change or link will not work.
  8. Check the links from the catalog to make sure they work. Click on some of the titles to make sure the links back to the catalog work.
  9. Scroll down the page. If any of the Format fields are blank, notify the Library Assistant, Cataloging.
  10. Delete the list from Create Lists.
