Creating Lists of Circulating DVDs

This page outlines steps to create the list of Circulating DVDs. It is used by bibliographic Services staff under the direction of the Systems and Catalog Librarian.

  1. Create the Circulating DVDs list monthly (bib list):
    • Item location is btsvd or btsve, status is -, cat date is not equal to blank.
    • Note: this query is saved as RXL 7/7/2010 DVDs
  2. Sort list by title.
  3. Export these elements from the list.
    • 245|a
    • 538
    • 001
  4. Name it: videosDVDsCircDVDs.out
  5. Export the list to your abacus account following instruction number 3.
  6. Move the list to the Library website following instruction number 4.
  7. In the .out file, edit the labels. Do not remove tabs between labels.
    • Change 245|a to Title.
    • Change 538 to Format.
    • Leave 001. Do not change or link will not work.
  8. Check the link from the catalog to make sure they work the list displays properly. Click on some of the titles to make sure the links back to the catalog work.
  9. Scroll down the page. If any of the Format fields are blank, notify the Library Assistant, Cataloging. If any of the Format fields in the DVD list say VHS, notify the Library Assistant, Cataloging.
  10. Delete the list from Create Lists.
