Reserves at Ladd Library

What are Reserves?
Reserves are items such as boooks, videos, folders or CDs which have been set aside in the library by your professor because they contain course related material which will be needed by all the students in the class.

A reserves location is indicated by a notation in the call number field in the library catalog. Items labeled "Reserve" are located at the Reserve/Circulation Desk on the first floor. Items labeled, "Audio Reserve," "Video Reserve," or "Score Reserve" are located in the Audio Desk on the ground floor. "Electronic Reserves" are web documents that are accessable through any networked computer.

Circulation Desk reserves may be checked out for either 2 hours, 1 day or 3 days, depending on the item. Audio Desk reserves may be checked out for 4 hours and must be used in the library.

Accessing Reserves

Use the Course Reserves QuickSearch on the Library Home Page to find the reserve list for your course.

Find the item you are looking for in the course reserve list:

Bring the CALL NUMBER or the FOLDER NUMBER to the Reserve Desk.
Make sure it says that the item is AVAILABLE immediately following the call number.

Only one reserve may be checked out at a time.

If the item is listed as Video Reserve, Audio Reserve, Score Reserve, or Laserdisk Reserve it is located in the Audio/Video area on the ground floor.

E-Reserves
Items listed as "Electronic Reserves" are available 24/7 from any networked computer.
Just click on the title of the article...
then click the "Go to article" link

For off campus access see: Proxy server setup instructions.

Fines
Equal access for all students is the reason professors place materials on reserve.
There are HEAVY FINES ($2.00 an Hour) if reserve materials are returned late.

The complete fine policy is available at: Circulation: Fines and Replacement Costs

Renew
To avoid those hefty reserve fines, Renew your Reserves!

Reserves may be renewed once through the library homepage by clicking on the "Renew Books/View your Record" link.
