Renewing Material
Bates students, alumni, affiliates, and courtesy borrowers may renew Bates
materials in person at the Circulation desk or by phone at
207-786-6263. You may also
renew certain Bates
materials on-line (see below). You may also renew material borrowed
via Maine Info Net on-line by connecting to the Ladd Library web catalog.

Colby and Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff should
consult the
CBB Loan Policies summary to see which type of Bates material
is available for renewal. All other patrons, except Bates faculty and
staff, may call the Circulation department for renewals. Renewals may also
be made in person at the Circulation desk.
Bates Faculty and staff memebers must bring materials to the Circulation
desk for renewal. The Bates Card is required as the items are checked in
and then checked out again.
If the material is overdue, patrons will be blocked from renewing
on-line.
In this event, please call the Circulation Department at 207-786-6263 for
assistance.
Material that is being recalled or held for another patron
may not be renewed. These materials must be returned by the due date.
Charges of $2.25/day will accrue for recalled material and further
borrowing and renewing of any material will be blocked until the item
is returned.
The number of renewals varies with the type of material (see below). The
staff of the Ladd Library encourages its users to avoid fines by returning
material by the due date or, when possible, by renewing the item.

- Books, Scores, and Maps
- Students - 12 renewals
Faculty/Staff - no renewals, but
material may be brought to the Circulation desk to be checked in and then
out again. Bates Card required for all transactions.
Courtesy Borrowers, Affiliates, and
Alumni - 12 renewals
- Popular Works
- Students - 12 renewals
Faculty/Staff - 12 renewals

- U.S. and Maine State Government Documents
- Students - 2 renewals
Faculty/Staff - no renewals, but

- Videos and Sound Recordings
- Students - no renewals (exceptions
made for In Library Use videos and sound recordings)

- InterLibrary Loan
- Students and Faculty/Staff - renewal
will depend on the policies of the lending institution.
