IM 5 v 5 Basketball

A - Competitive League: Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays
B - Recreational League: Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays
W - Women's League: Sundays, Wednesdays
Teams will be scheduled to play 2 - 3 days a week!
Women's League will be scheduled to play 1 - 2 days per week.
Rules
NCAA Basketball rules will be used except as indicated below:
1.
Two twenty minute halves with three minutes allowed between halves will
be played. If necessary there will be a two minute overtime. If a second overtime
is needed it will be only one minute in duration.
2. During
the first 18 minutes of each half the clock will not be stopped on violations,
out-of-bounds plays or on fouls, unless there is an unusual situation. The clock
will stop according to Federation rules for the last 2 minutes of each half and
during overtimes.
3. Substitutions may be made on all dead balls.
4. The game will start with a jump ball, and team possession on held
ball situations will be determined by the alternating possession arrow. Overtimes
will also start with a jump ball.
5. Each team is allowed 3 time-outs
per game, plus one additional time out for each overtime period. Time outs are
one minute in duration.
6. The free throw bonus (one and one) goes
into effect on the sixth team foul. Technical fouls will also count towards personal
team foul totals. All fouls in the last minute of the game (2nd half) are automatic
2 shot fouls provided the team is in the bonus.
7.
Officials have the power to eject any player if deemed necessary.
This action will be reported to the Intramural Student Coordinators for action.
8 . Captains are responsible for making their teams aware of the schedule.
Before each game the IM Official will ask the home team (team listed 1st) to wear
pinnies if they don't have same color shirts.
9 . Should
you need to reschedule a game, it the responsibility of the Captain to obtain
permission from the other team captain(s) involved and then contact the IM Student
Coordinator.
10. Teams in A & B league may be single gender or co-ed. Women's league is strictly for women.
Additional Information: NEW Rules
1.
The women's league will run if we have at least 3 teams.
2.
A & B leagues are both coed. A is the Most Competitive League. B league is
Recreational in nature.
3. Only players listed on team roster may
participate in games.
4. Individuals may participate on more than
one team as long as they understand the philosophy of the league they are competing
in.
5. No Bates College varsity or junior varsity team members
may participate on any team.
6. Game Times - Forfeits. Games are to begin as scheduled. At ten (10) minutes after a game has been scheduled to begin a team does not have 5 players to begin the game, the opponents may elect to accept the forfeit (win) and just play for fun; OR, the opponents may allow the team to add players to their squad for the game and will (must) accept the outcome of the game (even if they lose).
7. Team Forfeits. Teams that forfeit 2 times in one week or 3 times in the basketball season will be ejected from the league!
8. Technicals. Individual players that receive 2 technicals in one game will be ejected from the game and the gym immediately! They wilil be reported to the IM Director and will sit out the next game. If they receive a 3rd T any time during the season, they are ejected from the league for the rest of the season!
9. Roster Changes. Captains may take the first 3 weeks of the season to adjust their rosters. By January 29, the rosters will be set with no additions allowed!
