RULES.

The ball is put into play by the right back-row player who serves the ball by hitting it over the net to the opponent's court. The team has three hits to return the ball back over the net. A player is not allowed to hit the ball twice consecutively, except when attempting a block. The rally continues until the ball touches the ground/floor, goes out of bounds or a team fails to return it to the opponent's court or commits a fault.

We will observe the collegiate rules, which means a point is awarded on every serve (rally score). Teams play to 30 and must win by 2 points. To win the match a team must win 2 of 3 games. If a 3rd game is necessary, the teams will play to 15 points, winning by 2 points. When the receiving team wins a rally, it gains the right to serve (also scoring a point), and its players rotate one position clockwise, ensuring everyone will have the opportunity to serve.

Teams are allowed to substitute a new server as the team rotates back to serve (teams rotate clockwise). This would ensure that all members of the team are allowed to play. However, the team is not required to substitute in this manner. Substitutes may NOT be done strictly to allow a person to only play front row or only to serve.

1.  Only 2 Varsity players on roster, with no more than 1 on the court at a time.
2.  Teams are encouraged to have both genders represented on the court at all times.
3.  Serves may NOT be blocked or spiked.
4.  Let Serve. If a serve touches the net and continues over into the opponent's playing are, it is in play.
5.  Teams must have 6 players on the court for the game to count.
6.  At game time, if one team has fewer than 6 players, they have 5 minutes before the referee calls a forfeit for that game. After 10 minutes, if the team has yet to comply with the rules, the second game is forfeited along with the match. If both groups would like to play, they may do so but the outcome still remains a forfeit.
7.  Good sportsmanship is encouraged at all times.
8.  League Play begins Wednesday, Sept. 12.
9.  League Tournament will be played Nov. 7.
