Althought the hammer throw is a collegiate and olympic track event, there have been very few studies which evaluate techniques currently used by different throwers. My thesis is divided into two parts: first, an analysis of the motion of the hammer after it is released, and second, a model of how an athlete can move to maximize the range of their throw.
