BOBCATS TAKE FIFTH AT UMASS-DARTMOUTH

NO. DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- All seven varsity runners recorded personal best times as the Bates College women's cross country team placed fifth of 27 teams at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth today. The fifth place finish for the Bobcats was up from eighth at the same meet a year ago.

Sophomore Julie Dutton (Londonderry, N.H.) led the way for the Bobcats for the second week in a row, placing 13th overall. Her time of 18:34 shaved 45 seconds over her previous career best. Junior Kelly Puglisi (Scotia, N.H.) and sophomores Elizabeth Pagnotta (Hookset, N.H.) and Jessie Gagne-Hall (Manchester, N.H.) each finished within one second of each other. Puglisi ran 19:15, with the two sophomores finishing in 19:16, as they took 38th through 40th places. Sophomore Lauren Shoff (Metamora, Ill.) rounded out the Bobcats' scoring in 63rd place with a time of 19:43.
