BATES WOMEN'S X-COUNTRY TAKES EIGHTH AT UMASS-DARTMOUTH

LEWISTON, Maine -- Facing one of the deepest fields they will see before the chmapionship season, the Bates College women's cross country team placed eighth out of 27 teams at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.

Sophomore Abby Anthony (Jamestown, R.I.) continued her outstanding season, placing third at the meet with a lifetime best 18:04 over the 5K course.

The depth of the field showed in that the Bobcats' next runner finished in 33rd place, rookie Julie Dutton (Londonderry, N.H.), who posted a time of 19:19. Senior tri-captain Katie Parker (Williamstown, Mass.) had a fine showing in her season debut, running 19:40 for 47th place, while rookie Elizabeth Pagnotta (Hooksett, N.H.) was right behind her in 49th place. Classmate Lauren Shoff (Metamora, Ill.) rounded out the Bates scorers with a time of 20:17 and 76th place.
