ANTHONY WINS RACE, BUT BATES WOMEN'S X-COUNTRY FALLS TO NO. 11 BRANDEIS, 20-43

LEEDS, Maine -- Sophomore Abigail Anthony (Jamestown, R.I.) won her second race of the 2000 cross country season, but the Bobcats were unable to upset the Brandeis University Judges, ranked No. 11 in the most recent coaches' poll.

Anthony ran an 18:49, the fourth-best time ever run by a Bates woman at Springbrook. Brandeis captured the next eight positions to win the race before Bates' Julie Dutton (Londonderry, N.H.) took the Bobcats' second spot for the third week in a row in 21:07. Rounding out the top seven scoring positions this week were Allison Locke, Lauren Shoff, Leigh Johnson, Katie Parker and Meghan Johnston. So far this season, 10 athletes have scored points for the Bobcats.
