WOMEN'S TRACK TAKES THIRD AT TUFTS INVITATIONAL

Led by a host of impressive performances in the field events, the Bates College women's track and field team took fifth place overall and third among Division III schools at the Tufts University Invitational. Three different Bobcats earned points in two separate field events, paced by first-year jumper Anya Belanger (Millbridge, Maine), who tied for third in both the high jump and the triple jump. In the throwing events, junior Jen Winslow (Lee, N.H.) had the Bobcats' top finish of the meet, leading a pack of three top-five finishers in the hammer throw with her second place finish. Taking third in the hammer was junior Erika Bristol (Williamstown, Mass.), while senior captain Kate Osborne (Sandy Hook, Conn.) placed fourth. Winslow also took third in the discus throw. First-year thrower Molly Metcalf (Walpole, Mass.) took seventh in the discus and sixth in the javelin to round out the Bobcats' multiple scorers. Bates also had a pair of seventh-place finishes in the running events, first-year Leah McDonald (Charleston, W. Va.) in the 400-meters and junior Ellen Humphrey (Lexington, Mass.) in the 800 meters.
