BATES PLACES THIRD AT CHALLENGE CUP

GORHAM, Maine -- In their first scored meet of the season, the Bates College women's indoor track and field team place third in a six-team field at the first Challenge Cup meet of the season.

The Bobcats were paced by a pair of victories from first-year performers. Anya Belanger (Millbrook, Maine), captured the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, 5 1/2 inches. First-year middle-distance runner Leah McDonald (Charleston, W. Va.) captured the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:03.54.
