WANLESS SETS OUTDOOR SHOT PUT RECORD

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. —Sophomore Liz Wanless (Belleville, Ill.) continued her impressive track season at the non-scoring Bridgewater State Invitationa todayl, setting the outdoor school record in the shot put with a heave of 40-10.5, destroying the record previously held Erika Bristol '00 by four feet. She qualified for Open New England in the process, just missing out on the provisional NCAA mark by less than four inches.

Sophomore Julie Dutton (Londonderry, N.H.) also qualified for the Open New England's by winning the 10,000-meters in her first turn running the event with a time of 39:55.49. Other Bobcat winners included junior Kelley Puglisi (Scotia, N.Y.) with a p.r. 10:48.94 in the 3,000; basketball standout Katie King (Turner, Maine) in the 800 (2:30.0); senior Jessica Caron (Brunswick, Maine) in the 100 hurdles; and rookie Rachel Starr (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) in the 400 (1:03.79).
