BATES WOMEN PLACE FOURTH AT MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Bates College women's track and field team place fourth at their first muti-team meet of the season, finishing behind Division II UMass-Lowell, MIT and Southern Maine.

The Bobcats got two individual wins. First-year jumper Aisha Bell () took the triple jump with a leap of 34-5.5, qualifying for the ECAC and New England Division III Championships. Another Bates rookie, cross country standout Abby Anthony (Jamestown, R.I.) won the 5,000 meter run in a time of 18:25.04. Bates' most impressive showing in a single event was inthe 20-pound wiehgt throw, where the Bobcats took four of eight scoring spots.
