L.Sievers 2, 10-9, 4The Bates College women's squash team concluded the season at the Howe Cup competition at Harvard. The Bobcats competed in the 'B' flight and posted a 1-2 record, earning a 15th place finish. After dropping the first two matches to flight champion Amherst, 9-0, and in-state rival Colby, 6-3, the Bobcats ended the season on a winning note with a 5-4 triumph over Smith. The Bobcats received two wins in the final two matches from three players: first-year Aisha Shah (Bombay, India) at No. 1, junior Sze-Wei Ang (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) at No. 8 and sophomore Ellen Humphrey (Lexington, Mass.) at No. 9. Shah ends the regular season with a 12-5 record, with four of those losses coming to All-Americans. No. 6 player Kate Hagstrom (Portola, Calif.) was right behind Shah with an 11-5 record. Shah and junior No. 2 Mary Ellen Hennessey (Manchester, N.H.) will compete at next week'sindividual national championships at the University of Pennsylvania.
