The Bobcats struggled in a pair of matches at Colby, losing 7-2 to the hosts and 8-1 to Amherst. Bates victors on the day were first-year player Aisha Shah (Bombay, India), who lost just nine point at No. 1 against Colby, senior co-captain Shana McMenimon, who won the first two games, lost the next two and hung on for the 3-2 victory at No. 4 against the Mules, and sophomore kate Hagstrom (Portola, Calif.), who picked up the lone point against Amherst, rallying from two games down for the win.
