WOMEN'S SOCCER GAINS WIN NO. 10, 2-0, OVER WESLEYAN

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Bates College women's soccer team (10-2, 5-2 NESCAC) claimed its second straight 10-win season with a 2-0 victory over the host Wesleyan University Cardinals (2-9-1, 1-6-0 NESCAC) in New England Small College Athletic Conference action today.

The Bobcats got on the board early with senior forward Amanda Waterhouse (Cumberland, Maine) scoring in 4:44 into the contest for her third goal of the season. Sophomore Becky Castle (Stonington, Conn.) picked up the assist. Bates doubled its lead 23 minutes later on a goal by sophomore back Catherine Crosby (Lincoln, Mass.), giving her a two-game goal scoring streak. Junior MF Melissa Ostuni (Lynnefield, Mass.) picked up the assist.

Junior goalkeeper Kim Martell (Needham, Mass.) recorded her seventh solo shutout of the season and the Bobcats' ninth, tying a school record. Martell had four saves, while Cardinal keeper Ella Naef had 12 stops in the losing effort.
