BATES, CONN. COLLEGE BATTLE TO 1-1 DRAW

LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College Bobcats (10-3-1, 5-3-1 NESCAC), needing a win to clinch second place in the upcoming New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer tournament, battled to a 1-1 tie with the Connecticut College Camels (5-7-2, 1-6-2 NESCAC). The Bobcats are now the fifth seed in the tournament and will play Bowdoin at 1:30 p.m. on Leahey Field.

Bates started the scoring inthe 14th minute on a goal by sophomore back Catherine Crosby (Lincoln, Mass.) on a feed from junior midfielder Melissa Ostuni (Lynnefield, Mass.). The Camels got the equalizer just five minutes before intermission on an unassisted tally by senior Lena Eckhoff (Brattleboro, Vt.). While the Bobcats enjoyed a 30-14 shot advantage in the contest, several outstanding saves from Conn. College senior goalkeeper Laura Knisley (Great Falls, Va.) kept the game deadlocked. Knisley had 10 stops for the Camels while Bates junior keeper Kim Martell (Needham, Mass.) made eight stops for the Bobcats.
