NO. 2 MIDDLEBURY HANDLES BATES, 15-4

(Taken from a Middlebury College press release) MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Middlebury College Panthers (11-0), ranked No. 2 in the most recent Brine/IWLCA national Division III poll, continued their winning ways with a 15-4 victory over the visiting Bates College Bobcats (4-6).

Middlebury jumped out with three goals inthe game's first 6:53 to take a 3-1 lead. The Panthers then rattled off eight straight goals to take a 10-1 lead before Bates junior Blaine Hudson (Madison, Conn.) scored just before intermission. Middlebury's Kully Hagerman scored four of the first five goals of the second half as Middlebury expanded their lead to 15-2 before the Bobcats scored the last two tallies before the end of regulation.

Katie Samson made eight saves in goal for Middlebury, while first-year keeper Jen Strahle (Ridgewood, N.J.) had 16 for the Bobcats.
