NO. 19 BATES WOMEN DOWN GORDON, 20-11

WENHAM, Mass. — The Bates College women's lacrosse team scored four goals in just over five minutes as the Bobcats cruised to a 20-11 nonconference road victory over the Gordon College Fightning Scots today.

Bates (6-2), ranked No. 19 in the nation, four-goal performances from sophomores Lori Jessup (Hatboro, Pa.), who scored three straight goal late in the first half and Becky Castle (Stonington, Conn.). Classmate Carrie Smith (Chevy Chase, Md.) had three goals and two assists to tie Jessup for team-high honors with five points. In all, nine different Bobcats scored goals and 10 recorded points.

Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Gary (Los Angeles, Cal.) made 13 saves in her first start of the season. Gordon netminder Jessi Seep had 10 stops in the losing effort.
