NO. 17 CONNECTICUT COLLEGE DOWNS BATES, 17-8

WELLESLEY, Mass. - In a neutral site contest held at Wellesley College today, the Connecticut College Camels (6-5) defeated the Bates College Bobcats (2-5) by a 17-8 score.

The game was tight in the first half, with Bates holding a 3-2 lead just under seven minutes in after a goal by senior Blaine Hudson (Madison, Conn.). The Camels scored the next six goals to go up, 8-3, with 10 minutes remaining. Bates rallied to score twice in the final five minutes of the stanza, including rookie Kathrene Tiffany's (Boston, Mass.) tally with 11.5 seconds remaining. Conn. College pulled away in the second half, led by senior Meghan Welch (Framingham, Mass.), who scored six of her eight goals in the second half, including the 200th point of her career. Bates goalkeeper Jen Strahle (Ridgewood, N.J.) made 17 saves in the losing effort.
