KING SCORES 1,000TH CAREER POINT AS BATES DEFEATS WESLEYAN, 79-67 LEWISTON, Maine - With her first basket 1:22 into the game, Bates College junior Emily King (Lebanon, N.H.) became the quickest player in school history to score her 1,000th career point, as the Bobcats (15-1) defeated the Wesleyan University Cardinals (6-9), 79-67. King reached the 1,000-point mark in her 67th career game, surpassing Sarah Bonkovsky (Class of 1997), who reached the milestone in 73 games, in the first game of her senior season. Bonkovsky went on to become the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,407 points. With 14 points tonight, King ranks seventh on the all-time list with 1,012. In a nip and tuck game that featured five ties and six lead changes, the Bobcats and Cardinals were tied at 49 just under seven minutes into the second half, when Bates went on a 12-2 run over four minutes with King scoring eight points and sophomore center Katy Dutille (Lebanon, N.H.) scoring four points and dishing two assists. Dutille led all scorers with 21 points, while Wesleyan junior Lynn St. Martin (Westport, Mass.) and senior Jill Pelletier (Bar Harbor) each had 18. St. Martin had 13 points in the first half as the Cardinals trailed by only four going into the break against the #24 team in the nation. Bates senior A.T.
