UNE, 1-3.BATES BLOWS OUT UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND, 73-45 Second Half Spurt Carries Bobcats BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Leading by five, 28-23, with just over three minutes to go in the first half, the Bates College Bobcats (3-0) scored the final six points before intermission and opened the second half with a 20-4 run to blow out the University of New England Nor'easters (1-3), 73-45. Despite shooting just 27 percent from the field in the first half, Bates maintained a 34-23 lead by forcing 26 UNE turnovers while allowing the Nor'easters 24 field goal attempts. In all the Bobcats forced 42 turnovers, giving them 111 forced turnovers in three games. Junior forward Emily King (Lebanon, N.H.) had 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while senior guard Colleen McCrave (Walpole, Mass.) had her highest scoring ouput of the season with 14 points on seven of nine shooting to go along with eight assists and six steals. Senior Amy Taylor (Orono, Maine) had a season-high 16 points in her third game back from knee surgery.
