BATES WOMEN BOUNCE MAINE-FARMINGTON, 88-69

LEWISTON - Junior forward Emily King (Lebanon, N.H.) had season-highs with 27 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Bates College Bobcats (14-1) past the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers (8-6), 88-69, here tonight.

Bates placed five players in double-figures in scoring, led by King, who stands two points shy of becoming the first junior in Bobcat women's basketball history. Sophomore Kate McLaughlin (Lebanon, N.H.), playing in just her sixth game of the season notched a season-high 15 points off the bench, while junior Jolene Thurston (Post Mills, Vt.) had 14 points on seven-of-eight shooting from the floor. Senior Amy Taylor (Orono, Maine) and first-year guard Sarah Williamson (Plainfield, N.J.) each had 10 points.

Maine-Farmington was led by sophomore Rebecca Roak (Portland, Maine), who had 27 points and 14 rebounds, and junior Rebecca Fletcher (Dixfield, Maine), who had 19 points.

The Bobcats were playing without senior co-captain Colleen McCrave (Walpole, Mass.), who was out with an injury. It was the first time in her 89-game career that McCrave has missed a game.
