BATES WOMEN DISMISS CONNECTICUT COLLEGE, 88-56

LEWISTON - The Bates College women's basketball team placed five players in double figures as the Bobcats easily handled the Connecticut College Camels, 88-56, here today.

The Bobcats (16-1) limited Connecticut College (2-14) to just two field goals in the first 10 minutes of the game, racing out to a 20-9 lead. After going up by 40-19 with 4:14 left in the half, the Bates starters came out, and the Camels cut the lead to 43-29 at halftime. But a 23-3 charge out of the locker room over the first 7:31 of the second half put the Bobcats up 64-32, and they never looked back.

Bates was led by senior guard Amy Taylor (Orono), who had 14 points, and sophomore Kate McLaughlin (Laconia, N.H.), with 13 on four of-seven shooting from the floor and five-of-seven from the line. First year guard Sarah Williamson (Plainfield, N.J.) had 11, while juniors Jolene Thurston (Post Mills, Vt.) and Emily King (Lebanon, N.H.) each had 10 points. Connecticut College was led by Jessica Nowlin (St. Paul, Minn.), who had game-highs with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bobcats forced 32 turnovers, marking the 13th time in 17 games in which they have exceeded that mark. Bates extends its winning streak against New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opponents to 18 games.
