BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Senior captain Amy Taylor (Orono, Maine) hit a season-high four 3-point field goals, all in the first half, as the Bates College Bobcats (4-0) defeated the Bowdoin College Polar Bears (2-3) in Brunswick, 68-58.

Bates took a 36-29 lead into the half helped by four three-pointers from Taylor. The Bobcats pushed the lead to 10 at 42-32 but Bowdoin rallied with a 14-2 run, sparked by the play of sophomore Lauren Myers (So. Boston, Mass.) who hit a three-pointer and a jumper to tie the game at 44. The Bobcats would answer the run with a 12-4 streak of their own paced by Emily King (Lebanon, N.H.) and Sarah Williamson (Plainfield, N.J.) who each had four points in the run. Bowdoin would get no closer than four the rest of the way.

Taylor, the Bobcats' all-time leader in three-point field goals, was 4-for-9 from three-point range on her way to a game-high 18 points, while also pulling down seven rebounds. Classmate Colleen McCrave nearly recorded her fourth career triple-double, with 10 steals, 12 rebounds, matching a career-high, and six points. McCrave now has 34 steals this season and 480 for her career, 26 shy of becoming the all-time NCAA Division III women's leader. King and Jolene Thurston (Post Mills, Vt.) also scored in double figures for Bates, with 14 and 10 points respectively. For the fourth tie in as many games, the Bobcats forced at least 30 turnovers. Myers led the Polar Bears with 15 points and nine rebounds while Jess Farmer (Longmeadow, Mass.) chipped in with 13 points and five boards.
