BATES WOMEN BREEZE PAST ENDICOTT, 78-53

BEVERLY, Mass. —The Bates College women's basketball team outscored the hosts 15-3 over the first five minutes of the game and never looked back as the Bobcats defeated the Endicott College Gulls, 78-53, in a non-conference matchup tonight.

Bates (12-4) captains junior Lisa Golobski (Methuen, Mass.) and senior Kate Dockery (New York, N.Y.) contributed six and five points respectively to the opening run. The Bobcats led by as many as 21, 40-19, in the first half when Dockery hit a pair of free throws with 4:19 left in the stanza. Endicott (8-1)scored eight unanswered points to cut the lead to 13 at 40-27 before sophomore Kim Hoffman () hit a bucket just before the break to give Bates a 15-point cushion. A 16-5 Bates run to start the second half broke the game open.

Dockery led three Bobcats in double figures with 13 points, while Golobski had 11 points. First-year reserve guard Heather Taylor (Nobleboro, Maine) added 10 points and three assists. Sophomore Lauren Dubois (Beverly, Mass.) had a game-high 10 rebounds in her homecoming. In all, 13 of Bates' 15 active players scored points. Bates forced 30 Endicott turnovers and won the rebonding battle, 56-31, including 29-10 on the offensive glass. Endicott was paced by Jenn Grace with 13 points and Megan Welch with 10.
