BATES, FLAHERTY, SET SINGLE GAME 3-POINT MARKS
IN 103-37 WIN OVER CONN. COLLEGE

NEW LONDON, Conn. —Bates College junior Carla Flaherty (Gorham, Maine) established a new single-game school record with six 3-pointers and the Bobcats hit 11 as a team, trouncing the host Connecticut College Camels, 103-37, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball contest tonight.

Flaherty hit six-of-nine trifectas en route to a career-high 24 points on the evening. She surpassed the record of five set by Amy Taylor '99 in 1996 that was subsequently tied by Sarah Bonkovsky '97 later in the 1996-97 season and again in 2001 by senior Kate Dockery (New York, N.Y.) at Maine-Farmington on December 8. The Bobcats' previous team record of 10 long balls was also set in that contest. Dockery had one 3-ball tonight, as did sophomore Laura Nafe (Roland, Ark.) and junior Marcy Grossman (Orcas Island, Wash.). Sophomore Lauren Dubois (Beverly, Mass.) also hit two from beyond the arc.

In addition to Flaherty's big night, Bates (16-6, 6-2 NESCAC) got a career high from rookie Caitlin Vincent (Derry, N.H.) who had 10 points on five-of-six shooting. Classmate Katie King (Turner, Maine) had 11 points and Dubois also had 10 to round out the Bobcats' double-figures scorers. The 103 points matched the Bobcats' highest offensive output of the season, while the 66-point margin of victory was the largest since 1999.

Conn. College (1-19, 0-8) got 15 points from Erin Shields and 10 from Mary Bushnell in the losing effort.
